Rock Fugue For Two Vibraphones, Piano, Bass and Drums – SCORE AND PARTS!

If you are looking for something completely different that is also challenging with syncopated rhythms, counterpoint, and harmonic surprises – this is a great choice.

I should mention – there is actually a THIRD vibraphone part towards the end, but it’s not part of the fugue in any way, and the piece is totally playable without it.

This is a fun piece that is good for an intermediate/advanced ensemble – there is a section that can be repeated for improvised solos.  The most challenging aspect of the performance is probably the rhythms – making sure they all fit together.

I composed ‘Rock Fugue for Two Vibraphones, Piano, Bass and Drums’ some years ago when I was jokingly following a Wikipedia chart of a fugue.  I got a few steps into the process and then suddenly I just wanted to make the piece rock out, so here we are.

Purchase of this product includes the score and parts in the following PDF files:

  1. Full Conductor’s Score (15 pages)
  2. Vibraphone 1
  3. Vibraphone 2
  4. Vibraphone 3 (This is what I called the ‘Scream’ part at the end of the song)
  5. Piano
  6. Electric Bass (transcription of the part I played in the recording)

There is NO WRITTEN DRUM SET PART.  After recording all of the other parts I had everything memorized so there was no need to write a drum part.  My suggestion for the drum set player would be to follow along with the piano part.

I hope you enjoy!  The “Rock Fugue For Two Vibraphones, Piano, Bass and Drums” can be found on all streaming platforms, plus in this video:
